Shake off any dry dirt, mud, or grit after outdoor training sessions. Hand wash the leash in a basin filled with warm water and a mild, pet-safe soap. Gently scrub the rope surface with a soft cloth, taking care around the leather joints. Avoid using abrasive brushes, bleach, or harsh detergent compounds.

Rinse the rope thoroughly under clean tap water to remove all soap suds. Pat the leather joints dry with a towel, then allow the leash to air dry completely in a shaded, well-ventilated space before reuse. Do not place the leash in an automated washing machine or clothes dryer, as high heat and tumble action can degrade the reflective threads and dry out the leather joints.
